NEW FILTER OFFERING

Delivering this friday is our new filter offering, the Las Minas from Guatemala.

Zacapa is located in eastern Guatemala, right near Honduras. The name might sound familiar to rum drinkers, as the region also produces the famed (and delicious) Ron Zacapa Rum.

Other beverages aside, the area is extremely rich in biodiversity and climate; Great conditions for growing coffee. The landscapes go from the flattest warmest conditions lower down right up to the higher, wetter zone in the Sierra de Las Minas, a mountain range stretching 130km long by 30km wide, after which Edgar Roldan has named his farm.

The coffee we're roasting from this area has a delicate mouthfeel, yellow nectarine and lemon cordial sweetness with a gingerbread and orange blossom finish.

Finca Las Minas is adjacent to and connected with the ‘bosque nuboso’ (a ‘cloudy forest’ part of the biosphere). Not only suited to growing coffee, it is also the ideal habitat for the Quetzal, a beautiful brightly-coloured bird that is considered a national icon in Guatemala and from which the local currency has adopted it’s name.

Birds, rum and coffee. What more could you ask for?

Until next time,

Dylan
