CHEMEX BREW GUIDE

Welcome to our comprehensive guide on making coffee with the Chemex. The Chemex is a beautiful and effective pour-over coffee maker known for its clean and flavorful results. In this guide, we'll walk you through the step-by-step process for brewing the perfect cup.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

       BREWISTA

STEP 1—Boil Water

Start by boiling fresh, filtered water. The ideal temperature for brewing coffee is between 90°C - 96°C.

STEP 2—Rinse

Using hot water (90-93C), pour through the paper filter until completely saturated and sticking to the sides of the Chemex. Empty the now pre-heated Chemex.

STEP 3—Prepare the coffee beans

Measure out your coffee beans. A common coffee-to-water ratio is 1:16, which means 1 gram of coffee for every 16 grams of water. Adjust the quantity to your taste. Grind the beans to a medium-coarse consistency, similar to sea salt.

STEP 4—Add Coffee Grounds

Add the ground coffee to the rinsed filter. Make a small well or indentation in the middle of the coffee bed. This helps the water flow evenly through the grounds during brewing.

STEP 5—Bloom the Coffee

Start the timer and pour enough hot water (about twice the weight of the coffee grounds) to saturate them evenly. This is called the "bloom." Allow the coffee to bloom for 30 seconds. You'll notice the coffee bed expanding as gas is released.

STEP 6—Begin the Pour

After the bloom, start pouring water in a slow, spiral motion, working your way from the center outwards. Be sure to maintain a steady pour to keep the water level in the Chemex consistent.

Step 7—Wait for the Coffee to Drip and Enjoy

Allow the coffee to drip into your mug. The entire brewing process should take around 4- 5 minutes.
