Sharing a hot cup of coffee on the back verandah with your housemates is somewhat of a sharehouse tradition, but finding a brew that everyone can agree on is no easy feat. We like to think Moon Pix is this coffee - the perfect sharehouse cuppa, and here’s why.
First up, Moon Pix is a flexible coffee that can be brewed in a variety of ways; through a manual pour over such as the V60, an automatic batch brewer, Aeropress or using the trusty share house plunger. We like to think even if your resourceful housemate brewed it through a sock when you’ve run out of filters, it’d still probably taste great (*disclaimer* - we do not agree to be held liable if you do give this a shot!) You can enjoy Moon Pix with or without milk, however you like it.
Plus, with flavour notes of raspberry, golden syrup and lemon acidity, this brew is designed to be consistently balanced, sweet and vibrant. It’s a crowd pleaser and bound to impress even the fussiest of self-proclaimed ‘coffee connoisseur’ housemates.
Here’s the simple recipe for making a Moon Pix cuppa for you and a housemate:
For 2 cups of Moon Pix coffee
2 cups of water
4 tablespoons of Moon Pix ground coffee beans
Method:
Boil the kettle, and then add a splash of water to the kettle once boiled to make sure the water isn’t hot enough to burn your coffee! Pop 4 tablespoons of coffee into your plunger, and enough water to just cover the coffee. Mix it together and let it sit for 30 seconds, before adding the rest of the water. Letting the coffee sit with just a little water first helps to enhance the acidity and sweetness of the coffee, adding more complexity to the taste! Leave the coffee for 3.5 - 4 minutes before pressing and pouring.
If you haven’t tried Moon Pix yet, you can buy a bag for the house at either of our cafes, or order it online here.
